  Why Sustainable Glazing Concepts?

Sustainability is here to stay. Integration of Sustainable building design primarily focuses upon energy efficiency and conservation, Among products available for Building Design Sustainability, use of recycled aluminum, wood, and glass products should be considered. Most important, the designed use of existing natural resources, that include Daylighting, Solar, Geothermal, and Wind Technologies, should be fundamental components ushering our home and business communities into the new “green scene” era.

As a minimum, our company’s projects have professionally engineered glass and Glazing components that typically incorporate thermally isolated aluminum frame systems and spectrally selective insulated low-e glass products. All components will meet or exceed the building’s calculated Light to Solar Gain Ratios, Solar Heat Gain Coefficients, Visible Light Transmittance Values, and U-Factor Values. Final glass selections, if based on the above calculated design criteria, will provide the best optical and thermal performing glass envelope available to the commercial building marketplace today. Finally, our solutions will meet or exceed USGBC LEED Certification Credit criteria, IECC criteria, and ANSI/ASHRAE/IESNA Standard 90.1 criteria for designed energy efficiency requirements. Coordination with our project partners – owners, architects, general contractors, consultants, and material suppliers - assures a high performance, functional “green” building design, constructed on time, within budget, and have the highest degree of quality and sustainability.

Out with the old? Not necessarily! Concepts of Green Building Design can and should integrate older, existing technologies when energy efficient products and higher thermal performance values (without higher cost) are under consideration. Building envelopes can, with little difficulty, incorporate natural daylighting, natural ventilation, and a variety of shading devices. Additionally, photovoltaic glass panels, mechanically operable shading devices, and integral mini-blind products are available and will become green scene mainstays in the very near future. It’s undeniable, going green today saves our diminishing natural resources.

Sustainable Glazing Concepts, Inc., can help our clients achieve their sustainability goals, acquire LEED points, promote energy conservation, and lower overall energy cost by providing the best glass and glazing products available.
